What is the purpose of a Buyer Persona?
Updated: Apr 24, 2025
A Buyer Persona is essentially a fictional profile of your ideal customer, built using detailed research and data. It represents a specific segment of your audience and helps marketers understand their customers’ behaviours, preferences, needs, and motivations.
For this project, the Buyer Personas were created using demographic data from the Royal Marine Hotel, gathered through tools like Google Analytics. Based on this data, I was able to identify four distinct audience segments, which allowed me to create four unique Buyer Personas. You can see them illustrated in the images below, each one was designed using Canva to make them visually engaging and easy to understand.

Why Create 4 Distinct Personas?
From the insights of Google Analytics, it made sense to shape the campaign around four key types of potential guests:
Older Couples (60–75 years old)
Couples Without Kids (25–45 years old)
Business Travelers (30–50 years old)
Couples With Kids (with children under 15 years old)
Each of these groups has different needs, values, and expectations when it comes to travel and hospitality, so creating tailored personas helped me speak directly to each audience more effectively.
Why Canva?
Canva was the perfect tool for this task due to its flexibility and ease of use. It allowed me to move elements around easily, align visuals neatly and make the content appealing.
The Impact of Buyer Personas
Once the personas were created, it became much easier to adapt the messaging, tone of voice and overall marketing strategy to suit each specific audience. When campaigns are designed around real audience insights and values, they’re much more likely to succeed.

For example, when you tailor a campaign to what your audience truly cares about, conversion rates tend to be higher. That’s why Buyer Personas are such a fundamental part of any marketing strategy, without them, a company might spend a lot on ads that don’t actually connect with their target audience. The message simply wouldn’t land in a way that feels relevant or exciting.
Investing time in building Buyer Personas isn't just a marketing exercise, it’s a strategic move that helps ensure your message reaches the right people, at the right time, in the right way. And that can make all the difference.
